One of the holiday movie season’s most star-studded casts can be found in Adam McKay’s scathing financial comedy-drama “The Big Short.” The movie had a splashy premiere at AFI FEST 2015 and marks the veteran comedy director’s first foray into serious-minded and socially-conscious drama.
Starring Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, Christian Bale and Brad Pitt, “The Big Short” is based on the bestselling nonfiction book by Michael Lewis (“Moneyball,” “The Blind Side”) that investigates the housing and bank crisis of the 2000s through the eyes of four economic outsiders who predicted the consequences of the fraud and set out to make the big banks pay. The starry ensemble also includes Melissa Leo, Marisa Tomei, Jeremy Strong, Tracy Letts, Hamish Linklater and Finn Wittrock.
“The Big Short” opens in select theaters on December 11 before expanding nationwide starting December 23. Watch the new trailer above.
