Watch: Will Peter Jackson Direct 'Doctor Who'? Peter Capaldi Drops a Hint

In a video posted to his verified Facebook page, Peter Jackson has announced that he may be directing an upcoming episode of “Doctor Who.”

In the video, as the acclaimed director polishes his four Oscar statuettes, he talks to his daughter about Steven Moffat’s insistent pestering that Jackson direct the long-running British sci-fi series. Suddenly, the Doctor himself appears with an urgent BBC contract in need of immediate signature from the director. 

If what we see in the video (or at least parts of it) are true, then it seems that the Oscar-winning director of the “Lord of the Rings” series is going to direct one of the longest-running TV shows of all time. Fans of “Doctor Who” and Tolkien rejoice!
