Reese Witherspoon Continues to Push into TV With ABC Divorce Drama

With the pace of filmmaking so slow, it’s no wonder that Reese Witherspoon, a self-described “Type A,” is moving into the faster world of television

Witherspoon and her producing partner, Bruna Papandrea, have sold a divorce drama called “Please Don’t Leave” to ABC. Meaghan Oppenheimer will write the pilot.

“Please Don’t Leave” centers on “a ruthless divorce attorney in Dallas,” per THR. Here’s their description of the main character: “Raised in the trailer parks of Texas, she has left behind a life of struggle amid squalor, working her way into a corner office and mansion in Dallas’ most prestigious neighborhood. But beneath her facade of togetherness, she’s plagued by self-destructive tendencies and long-hidden family secrets that begin to unravel her life.”

Witherspoon, Papandrea and Oppenheimer will executive produce the series. The Oscar-winning actress’s other forays into the small screen include HBO’s miniseries adaptation of “Big Little Lies” and a romantic mystery drama by Rob Long for ABC.
