The prospect of “Kill Bill Vol. 3” is an exciting one—we recently ranked volumes 1 and 2 just below “Pulp Fiction” and “Reservoir Dogs” in Tarantino’s body of work—but thus far firm details are harder to find than Ping Wu.
Back in 2009, the “Hateful Eight” filmmaker said on Italian TV that he hoped to continue the epic tale of Beatrix “The Bride” Kiddo, but only after 10 years had elapsed since “Vol. 2.” Well, it’s been 11, and now Tarantino’s stirring up the rumor mill again. He recently told Ben Mankiewicz of “What The Filck?!” (full interview below) that the project is a “possibility” but not yet a “probability.”
As the A.V. Club notes, Tarantino has said in the past that he envisions “Vol. 3” involving the daughter of Vivica A. Fox’s assassin, Copperhead, pursuing vengeance for her mother’s death (which took place in “Vol. 1” at the hands of Uma Thurman’s Beatrix.) With Beatrix’s own daughter, B.B., approaching adulthood, the possibilities are juicy indeed, though Tarantino’s not showing his cards just yet. For now, we’ll just have to imagine a second-generation showdown between two young women, in which Thurman assumes David Carradine’s role as the old sage.
