Moviegoers around the country that happen to live near one of the nine Dolby Cinema at AMC Prime theaters will get the chance to experience a bigger and more immersive “The Revenant.” Dolby and 20th Century Fox has announced Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s wilderness epic, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, will screen in the high-dynamic-range format at these select theaters.

As previously reported, Dolby Cinema is a full theater experience that combines higher resolution imagery (Dolby Vision) and surround sound (Dolby Atmos includes more than 40 speakers in each theater) to create an immersive moviegoing presentation. All Dolby Cinema theaters are black-matted and include no bright colors, so that there is absolutely no distraction from the viewing process. The wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling screen is also projected off the back wall to create a suspended 3D projection.

The theaters launched earlier this year and are currently playing “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” meaning “The Revenant” should find itself in Dolby Cinemas sometime in the early new year, perhaps when it expands nationwide on January 8.
