While there are still a handful of promising flicks waiting at the tail end of 2015, the year is mostly spent. And for all the CG summer disasters, there were, like most every year, a whole lot of great films to love. Which, of course, means there were some fantastic scripts (check out 41 Oscar contending screenplays) and a lot of exciting work by both established and emerging writers worth celebrating.
And once again THR has managed to round up the who’s who of screenwriters for their year ending roundtable chat. This year they managed to snag the folks behind many of our favorite movies. Aaron Sorkin (“Steve Jobs”), Amy Schumer (“Trianwreck”), Tom McCarthy (“Spotlight”), Emma Donoghue (“Room”), Nick Hornby (“Brooklyn”), and Meg LeFauve (“Inside Out”) leave no stone unturned over the 1-hour talk. The discussion bounces from writing regrets, the social media era, collaboration in the industry, authenticity in their work, influences, and much more.
It’s a fascinating discussion — as most of the THR roundtables are — with some riveting writers delving into the meat of writing. Check out the video below and weigh in with your thoughts in the comments.
