One of the festival season’s must-see revivals, Kelly Reichardt’s rarely-seen debut “River of Grass,” has been renewed courtesy of restoration work by Oscilloscope Laboratories, Sundance, UCLA Film & Television Archive and TIFF. The restoration first premiered at TIFF and was recently selected to screen in the From The Collection section at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival.

Originally released though seldom seen in 1994, “River of Grass” chronicles the misadventures of disaffected housewife Cozy and her lover, the aimless layabout Lee. Lisa Bowman, Larry Fessenden, Dick Russell, Stan Kaplan and Michael Buscemi star.

Reichardt shot the film on 16mm and has described it as “a road movie without the road, a love story without the love, and a crime story without the crime.” Check out the trailer above.
