“The Revenant” begins rolling out in select theaters this Friday, and 20th Century Fox is giving it one last marketing push in the form of a breathtaking new featurette in which the cast and crew weigh in on the remarkable true story that inspired the feature and the spiritual themes that run through it.
The revenge drama reunites Alejandro G. Iñárritu and cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezski after their Oscar victories for “Birdman” last year, and it’s a safe bet they’ll be back in the Oscar race this year along with their leading man, the still Oscar-less Leonardo DiCaprio. The actor plays American explorer Hugh Glass, who is brutally attacked by a bear and left for dead by Tom Hardy’s John Fitzgerald. Bruised and broken, but alive, Glass embarks through the wilderness in the pursuit of vengeance and redemption. Domhnall Gleeson and Will Poulter co-star.
After numerous trailers touting the film’s unrelenting suspense and gorgeous cinematography, the new featurette shines a light on the more thematic side of the movie. Listen to what Iñárritu, Lubezski and DiCaprio have to say about the film in the video above.
