Watch: Ron and Bryce Dallas Howard Open Up About Family Film School in 'Academy Originals' Clip

In “Family Film School: The Howards,” director Ron Howard and actress Bryce Dallas Howard reflect on their different career paths in Hollywood and how they inspire each other as artists. The clip is the latest from “Academy Originals,” AMPAS’ web series that takes viewers behind the scenes with the industry’s best and brightest talent.

Above, Bryce Dallas Howard reveals her three favorite Ron Howard films — “Cocoon,” “Parenthood” and “Apollo 13” — and reflects back on how her interest in movies was inherent at a young age. She also has very fond memories of being on the set of “Parenthood” at at age seven and helping out her father as a production assistant.

Furthermore, Howard reflects on women in Hollywood as he comes to understand the difficulties for a woman in the business through his daughter. “I am shocked at how much more complicated it is to be a female in this business,” he says. “I really didn’t understand the added level of pressure. It’s informed my work with women I’ve directed since. I just wouldn’t have had the sensitivity.”
