It’s Awards Season, that time of the year when we come together to celebrate the best and brightest from independent film, Hollywood and foreign cinema. To honor some of the year’s most deserving contenders, Indiewire will be highlighting some of the best work we’ve seen over the last 12 months for our annual Awards Season Spotlight, starting today.

Although it’s quite often correct, Indiewire’s Awards Season Spotlight isn’t necessarily a prognosticator of the awards season. Instead, it’s a recognition of the great films produced in 2015. And size is no object: we’re recognizing studio blockbusters as well as micro-budget indies. We’ve included both the frontrunners and the dark horses, but their unifying theme is extraordinary talent.

Our editors have selected 24 of this year’s best actors, ensembles, craftsmen and directors — from features and documentaries to indie underdogs and studio gems — to sit down for exclusive interviews shot by our partners at Time Warner Cable. From best actress Oscar heavyweights Brie Larson and Saoirse Ronan to “Inside Out” director Pete Docter and Independent Spirit Awards nominee Mya Taylor, this year’s Awards Season Spotlight covers most of what made the past year such a daring blast at the movies.

Accompanying each of these profiles will be original photography from Daniel Bergeron and short essays from the Indiewire editorial team. We’ll be rolling content out twice a week — every Tuesday and Thursday — over the next 12 weeks, providing the year’s most worthy contenders right up through many of the major awards and announcements. While there is no way these 24 selections could sum up the last 12 months in movies, they offer an overview of the actors, directors and others from the film community who will keep us talking for years to come.
