“You’re the Worst” is actually the best — or, at least, one of the very best shows airing right now — and FX Networks has seen fit to reward it with another season. Despite low ratings, the critical and cult sensation earned enough buzz throughout a brave and superb new season to land another year at FXX.
Originally paired with “Married” on FX, the two shows went their separate ways in Season 2. “You’re the Worst” moved to FXX and “Married” remained on FX, where its ratings continued to drop before the series was canceled in late October. Stephan Falk’s comedy didn’t see much improvement in the ratings, with its most recent episode nabbing a mere 402,000 viewers three days after its first airing. Yet expectations are certainly lower at the less-viewed FXX, and viewership numbers remained steady after an expected dropoff in the first episode (compared to when it was on FX).
Also not to be discounted is that the critical support has been huge — just as it was for Season 1 — and a cult following of passionate fans remains very, very invested.
The penultimate episode of Season 2 airs tonight, December 2, at 10:30pm on FXX. The finale will air at the same time and place December 9.
