Relative newcomer Manolo Cruz writes, directs and stars in the upcoming Spanish-language drama "Between Sea and Land," which will have its world premiere at Sundance later this month. In a great sign of confidence, the drama has been preemptively picked up by the German distributor Global Screen.
The film focuses on Alberto, a man confined to a bed due to a neurological disorder, and his mother, Rosa, who is committed to taking care of him. The love, compassion and protection given by Rosa and Alberto’s neighbor, Giselle, as well as Alberto’s own humor and creativity, help him to endure the day to day, though the life he is forced to only dream about is forever out of reach.
"Our whole team was amazed with this unique and exceptional film that takes the viewer into a different world poor in materialism but rich in human heart and courage," said Klaus Rasmussen, Senior Sales and Acquisitions Manager at Global Screen. "We are very happy to present Manolo Cruz’s film to the international audience."
Global Screen is a leading German sales and distribution company for theatrical and TV films outside of German-speaking territories. "Between Land and Sea" will premiere at Sundance on January 22.
