Screen Talk: What We Learned About the Oscars from the Guild Nominations

Never in recent memory has their been such a crowded, cluttered field for the Oscars, as movies like "Ex Machina" and "Sicario" gain ground, not to mention "Straight Outta Compton" and "The Big Short." Whither frontrunner "Spotlight" and our action-packed favorite, "Mad Max: Fury Road"? Oddly, the numbers could yield fewer nominees, as balloting ends Friday and the final Oscar nominations will be revealed January 14.
