Earning five Oscar nominations this morning, the conversation around “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” isn’t going to end anytime soon. And with a couple of those nominations coming in Best Visual Effects and Best Editing, this recently released VFX reel shows that J.J. Abrams‘ movie could be a strong contender come Oscar night in those technical categories.
Running ten minutes long, and featuring a handful of sequences not previously seen in trailers and TV spots, the reel shows the tremendous amount of visual effects work involved in making the world of “Star Wars” come to life. No matter what quibbles you might’ve had about the movie, mostly everyone can agree it looked great, with the VFX seamlessly integrated, with no shortage of money spent to make sure it looked right. The video is a great reminder about the lengths that technicians behind-the-scenes go in creating big screen movie magic. Watch below. [Comic Book Movie]
