How do you make an entire movie about a one-day visit to the White House by an aging rock n’ roll icon where he meets the Commander-In-Chief of the U.S.? Well, that’s what filmmaker Liza Johnson tries to pull off in "Elvis & Nixon," the true story of the morning of December 21, 1970, when The King, Elvis Presley (Michael Shannon), turned up at the White House and demanded to be sworn in as a Federal Agent to join in the fight against drugs and communism by then POTUS Richard Nixon (Kevin Spacey).

Here’s the official synopsis:

On the morning of December 21st 1970 the world’s biggest star, Elvis Presley (Michael Shannon) arrived on the White House lawn to request a meeting with the most powerful man in the world, President Richard Nixon (Kevin Spacey). Elvis & Nixon tells the astounding true story of this meeting between two men at the height of their powers.

Co-starring Colin Hanks, Johnny Knoxville, Sky Ferreira, Tracy Letts, Evan Peters, and Alex Pettyfer ,Amazon Studios will release "Elvis & Nixon" theatrically through Bleecker Street Pictures sometime in April. Watch the first trailer below.

Looks like Adam Sandler might not win at the Razzies this year. This film has that awards ceremony on lockdown. Spacey, you’re UNDERWOOD. Not Nixon.

I am offended that Nixon is referred to as a crook in this headline. He was among our greatest Presidents. Go read the real Watergate record and you discover what bull it really was against this great man.
