Watch: Mystical New Footage From Terrence Malick's 'Knight Of Cups'

So Terrence Malick has entered the age of social media marketing. Generally speaking, films from the reclusive director stay under wraps, are then suddenly announced and hit the festival circuit, a couple of trailers are released, and then a given film opens in cinemas. But for "Knight Of Cups," Broad Green is seeing what micro-teasing can do to spur interest in the film.

Below you’ll find a snippet of new footage featuring Christian Bale moving evocatively, the standard mystical voiceover, and….that’s about it. But something is better than nothing, right? Here’s the official synopsis:

Knight of Cups follows writer Rick (Christian Bale, The Fighter, American Hustle) on an odyssey through the playgrounds of Los Angeles and Las Vegas as he undertakes a search for love and self. Even as he moves through a desire-laden landscape of mansions, resorts, beaches and clubs, Rick grapples over complicated relationships with his brother (Wes Bentley) and father (Brian Dennehy). His quest to break the spell of his disenchantment takes him on a series of adventures with six alluring women:  rebellious Della (Imogen Poots); his physician ex-wife, Nancy (Cate Blanchett); a serene model Helen (Freida Pinto); a woman he wronged in the past Elizabeth (Natalie Portman); a spirited, playful stripper Karen (Teresa Palmer); and an innocent Isabel (Isabel Lucas), who helps him see a way forward.
Rick moves in a daze through a strange and overwhelming dreamscape — but can he wake up to the beauty, humanity and rhythms of life around him? The deeper he searches, the more the journey becomes his destination.

"Knight Of Cups" arrives on March 4th.

Malick’s genius shines through on this as much as "Tree of Life". Absolutely brilliant in every way.

It says he wronged her which isn’t that clear in the film. What happened isas much her fault than his… Then we could also say he wronged Blanchett’s character as well… Everything is vague in that film so synopsys are just weird to read…

BEE, the Portman sequences, much like the Blanchett ones, are flashbacks.

"a woman he wronged in the past Elizabeth (Natalie Portman)"
I must have missed something because that’s not the story I remember from that character.

It was fun to see his films because they were so seldom, but now it just feels like he’s a one trick pony. I’ll still give this one a shot, but I have a hunch I’ll be seeing the same song and dance again.

I find the use of the word "Standard" mythical voice over, a little disrespectful. Signature is a word I think Terrence has earned. Nitpick stuff, I know.
