READ MORE: Review: Terrence Malick’s ‘Knight of Cups’ Pushes the Director’s Style to Its Limits
Terrence Malick’s “Knight of Cups” is easily one of the year’s most anticipated releases for a handful of reasons; one of which is that it marks the first collaboration between the filmmaker and Oscar winner Natalie Portman.
The spiritual drama finds Christian Bale’s tormented Hollywood writer on an introspective odyssey across Los Angeles and Las Vegas. His quest to break his spell of depression brings him into contact with six women played by Portman, Cate Blanchett, Imogen Poots, Freida Pinto, Isabel Lucas and Teresa Palmer. Portman plays a woman from Bale’s past that he wronged, which suggests their encounter will be one of high drama during the film.
“Knight of Cups” premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival last year and will finally be released in theaters on March 4, courtesy of Broad Green Pictures.
