In classic Herzog fashion, his new film, “Lo and Behold: Reveries of the Connected World,” tackles the modest topic of the future. Through Herzog’s reverent and critical eye, he examines the internet, artificial intelligence and our interconnected lives. The new trailer displays Herzog’s investigation into Pittsburgh’s robotics industry, just one of the many places Herzog travels in his effort to uncover the next great step in technology and whether it will be in the right direction.

As Sundance explains, “Herzog documents a treasure trove of interviews of strange and beguiling
individuals—ranging from Internet pioneers to victims of wireless
radiation, whose anecdotes and reflections weave together a complex
portrait of our brave new world.”

Herzog describes the Internet as “one
of the biggest revolutions we as humans are experiencing,” and yet he
tempers this enthusiasm with horror stories from victims of online
harassment and Internet addiction. All of this should make for one interesting documentary when the film premieres this Saturday, January 23 at the Sundance Film Festival.
