Evan

"Spotlight" was great and all, but "Inside Out" really should win this award as well!

K

If you don’t properly option material then you use the phrase ‘based on events’ but if a book is out there, it is still more adaptation than ‘original’.

Anany

Should win: Inside Out
Shoulda been here: The Lobster

Tomas Zelenka

This seems like a consolidation price for Spotlight. Potential spoiler is Ex Machina as this category is kind to original sci-fi movies.

Last year the analysis was far more thorough and profound! It consisted of at least two chunky paragraphs explaining the situation and why the choices were made. Here, it’s just a tiny synopsis, most of which is pretty much common sense, and then the prediction. Like in the Original Screenplay category, Anne writes "These two films were locks for nominations, now they are the frontrunners". What sort of analysis is that?! In Best Supporting Actress, she writes how it’s possible that Winslet wins because of her star power, but it’s a wild category. Then she names her predictions, none of which are Kate Winslet. WHY ARE ROONEY MARA AND ALICIA VIKANDER THE FRONTRUNNERS? I’m not doubting the prediction, as always they seem very reliable, but I want to know how you came to the conclusion.

Not a Quentin Tarantino fan, but have to go with "The Hateful Eight."

NUX

I Really Hope INSIDE OUT will win!!

Jimmy

What happened to "Straight Outta Compton"???

Sam

Any love for Dope?

Lucas

Bridge of spies is a adapted screenplay."Based on the 1960 U-2 incident during the Cold War."

Paul

I’d love to see It Follows somewhere in the mix, and Trainwreck really should be getting more love

damian

JONATHAN HERMAN ANGELA BERLOFF ALAN WENKUS AND LEIGH SAVIDGE FOR STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON

Mauricio

Ex Machina will be nominated here I feel it in my bones! I also agree with 99 Homes making the cut since it was superb writing

francisco

1. Tom McCarthy & Josh Singer, "Spotlight"
2. Pete Docter, Meg LeFauve, Josh Cooley, "Inside Out"
3. Oren Moverman, Michael Alan Lerner, "Love & Mercy""
4. Alex Garland, "Ex-Machina"
5.
Laslo Nemes and Clara Royer, "Son of Saul"

Angel

Maybe it’s not surprising since it’s such a small film but I’m a little disappointed The Stanford Prison Experiment isn’t even being considered as a long shot but I suppose it’s chances are slim to none

Charles

I can’t believe that "Testament of Youth" was not considered in any category!

D

I know it is out of context, but the last episode of THE LEFTOVERS "No Room at the Inn" is even better than all those movies together. The writing in that episode was more than perfect and great! : )

How about The Lobster?

Brian

What about ROOM? Also, Demolition won’t have what it takes to be even vaguely remembered.

Jack

Why is Tarantino "original screenplay?"
The Hateful Eight is a Il Grande Silenzio rip off…

No Mad Max Fury Road?

Josh

Secondly, what about Crimson Peak?

Josh

First, films based on historical events are still eligible for Best Original Screenplay. Look no further to when The King’s Speech won in 2010 and when The Fighter, American Hustle, Dallas Buyers Club, and Foxcatcher were all nominated.

URI K

Inside Out Screenplay was written by Pete Docter,Meg LeFauve and Josh Cooley- not Bob Petersen & Pete Docter. one of is also a woman :)

Jamessir

No love for Straight Outta Compton?

Evan

"Everest" happens to be based on true events that happened in 1996. So it should be considered a possible contender under the Best Adapted Screenplay category.
