'Avatar 2' Will Reportedly Start Shooting In April

With last month’s news that James Cameron‘s “Avatar” sequel(s) would be delayed yet again, many asked a very simple question: what the hell is going on? Well, 20th Century Fox and Cameron are both staying mum, but there’s no doubt that the production will be one of the most ambitious in recent memory, with the director evidently planning to shoot the new trilogy of movies simultaneously. So I’d wager the that scale of it is probably bigger than expected, that scheduling the actors will be tricky, and that Cameron’s inevitable new technology for shooting the movies will be massively expensive and time-consuming. But it seems cameras will be rolling fairly soon.

According to industry site My Entertainment World (via ComingSoon), production on “Avatar 2” will begin in April in New Zealand. There’s no word yet if it’s just that one movie that will shoot or if Cameron is mounting all three. Either way, it looks like the delay on “Avatar 2” isn’t a big one.

Meanwhile, other high profile movies with reported start dates include “Ghost In The Shell” (this month), “Fifty Shades Darker” (this month), “Wolverine 3” (April), “Alien: Covenant” (April), and “Transformers 5” (May). And all those sound about right, considering each film has a 2017 release date.
