BET Honors Black History Month with ABFF Awards + Basic Cable Premiere of '12 Years a Slave'

BET has announced that, on Tuesday, February 23, in celebration of Black History Month, the network has partnered with the American Black Film Festival (ABFF) to air “ABFF Awards: A Celebration of Hollywood” at 8P/7C. 

This first-ever televised installment of the award show is a tribute to film legends and TV stars, hosted by Mike Epps, in a two-hour event that will honor Don Cheadle, Regina King, Ryan Coogler, Diahann Carroll and Will Packer for their achievements in entertainment. 

Also, there will be special appearances by Jamie Foxx, Robert Downey Jr., Kerry Washington, Octavia Spencer, Loretta Devine, KeKe Palmer, Anthony Anderson and more!

In addition to the ABFF Awards, 2014 Best Picture Oscar Winner, “12 Years a Slave,” will make its basic cable premiere on BET to wrap up Black History Month. The movie premieres Saturday, February 27 at 8P ET/PT. The Steve McQueen directed adaptation of Solomon Northup’s book of the same name, stars Chiwetel Ejiofor as a free black man from upstate New York, who is abducted and sold into slavery.
