Michael Keaton was everywhere in 2014, appearing in “RoboCop” and “Need for Speed.” But it was his performance Riggan, a former action star desperate to stage a comeback on Broadway in Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s “Birdman,” that reminded critics and audiences of what a ferocious performer Keaton can be when paired with inspired material. His show-stopping performance earned the actor a Golden Globe and an Oscar nomination for Best Actor.
