'Spotlight' Wins Inaugural L.A. Press Club Veritas Award

Judging the films for both “fidelity of subject matter” and “artistic excellence,” L.A. Press Club members voted Tom McCarthy and Josh Singer’s Oscar-nominated journalism drama, with an ensemble cast led by Michael Keaton, Mark Ruffalo, and Rachel McAdams, over runner-up “Bridge of Spies.”

Sacha Pfeiffer (played in the film by McAdams), Ben Bradlee, Jr. (John Slattery), and Mike Rezendes (Ruffalo) will accept the inaugural Veritas Award at the L.A. Press Club on Hollywood Boulevard on February 25, three days before the film competes for Best Picture and five other Oscars.
