Watch: 'Goodnight Brooklyn' Trailer Captures the End of an Era in the Brooklyn Music Scene

As the 23rd SXSW Film Conference and Festival prepares for kick off just a few weeks from now, a new documentary set to compete at the festival seems set to merge the best of the festival’s biggest sections, film and music. “Goodnight Brooklyn: The Story of Death By Audio” will celebrate its world premiere at SXSW in the Documentary Feature Competition on March 14.

Directed by one of the venue’s founders, Matt Conboy, “Goodnight Brooklyn” recounts the last days of the beloved Brooklyn music space, Death By Audio, which served the community for nine years only for the space to be overtaken by a billion dollar company.

As they hosted hundreds of music fans at night, they had to endure the crowds while dealing with imminent threats from both the police and building department. The documentary captures the venue in its rowdy and emotional final days, featuring an in-depth exploration of the ironic occurrences surrounding the end of its tenure.

Watch the trailer above. The documentary will premiere at SXSW on March 14 at the Stateside Theater.
