It looks like The Weinstein Company are doing some shelf clearing in their Dimension Films division. Originally shot in 2014 under the title "Amityville: The Lost Tapes," this was originally slated to be released in early 2015, before it was yanked off the schedule. Now it’s back on the calendar for release in just over a month with the new title, "Amityville: The Awakening."
Jennifer Jason Leigh, Bella Thorne, and Cameron Monaghan star in the Franck Khalfoun ("P2," "Maniac") directed horror flick, that finds new occupants in the titular house, where spooky surprises await. Here’s the synopsis:
Belle, her little sister, and her comatose twin brother move into a new house with their single mother Joan in order to save money to help pay for her brother’s expensive healthcare. But when strange phenomena begin to occur in the house including the miraculous recovery of her brother, Belle begins to suspect her Mother isn’t telling her everything and soon realizes they just moved into the infamous Amityville house.
"Amityville: The Awakening" will open on April 1st.
