Arnold Schwarzenegger Says He Might Be Back For Shane Black's 'Predator'

What is the value of Arnold Schwarzenegger to his old franchises once they get a new coat of paint? Granted, “Terminator Genisys” had problems beyond his starring role, but his return as T-800 arguably only made trying to reboot that property even more complicated. And once the film flopped, Paramount dropped their plans to make any further sequels. So one wonders if Shane Black‘s upcoming “Predator” sequel actually needs Major Alan “Dutch” Schaefer to return. But it seems the character is in the script and Arnie will soon be meeting with the director about the project.

“I haven’t talked with [Shane Black] yet but I’m going to meet with him for lunch sometime soon. Just as soon as I’m finished with [Arnold’s Sports Festival] and ‘The Apprentice’ and all this stuff. But I will get together with him. If there is any news, we’ll of course let you know right away. There’s also a meeting coming up soon about ‘Conan,’ about the project moving forward,” the actor told The Arnold Fans

In case you’re wondering, Arnie has been tapped as the new host for “Celebrity Apprentice,” replacing Donald Trump, while the ‘Conan’ project is the long brewing “The Legend Of Conan,” which is said to be in the vein of “Unforgiven.”

So, what do you say Arnie fans? Is it time for him to really and truly pass the torch on the franchise, or is fan service that important that his presence is required. Let us know below. “Predator” will open on March 2, 2018. [Screen Relish]

The brand is so damaged at this point that it is probably a bad idea to add anything that references the original series of films. They should just concentrate on finding a fresh way to make the franchise relevant and skip the winks and cameos.

I don’t think it’s necessary, but it might be good to have him in a cameo capacity just to set it apart from the other sequels.

Would love for Arnold to appear in a much smaller role. With Shane Black at the helm, I’m very optimistic for this movie.

Nobody cares. Not even his mum. And certainly not the Predators themselves.

A cameo at most. PLEASE do not try to stick Arnold in a leading role for this film. I don’t think any fan of the original wants to see that. Plenty of younger action stars could play opposite the Predator. If they need a big name, Tom Hardy, Channing Tatum, Jason Statham, Chris Hemsworth, Dwayne Johnson, Vin Deisel – any of these guys would be big enough stars to put on a movie poster, if that’s what the studio wants. Gray wrinkled Arnold will produce a flop.
