Principal photography has begun on New Line Cinema’s and Village Roadshow Pictures’ “Collateral Beauty,” which stars Will Smith, leading an all-star cast that includes Edward Norton, Keira Knightley, Michael Peña, Naomie Harris, Kate Winslet and Helen Mirren.
We can now add Jacob Latimore to the cast list, although no word on what role exactly he’s signed up to play.
Directed by Oscar-winner David Frankel (“Dear Diary,” “The Devil Wears Prada”), the film follows a successful New York advertising executive (Will Smith) who experiences a deep personal tragedy and retreats from life entirely, when his colleagues devise a drastic plan to force him to confront his grief in a surprising and profoundly human way.
Frankel is directing from an original screenplay by Allan Loeb (“Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps,” “21”). Loeb is also a producer on the film, together with Bard Dorros (“Triple 9”) and Michael Sugar (“Spotlight”) under the Anonymous Content banner; Anthony Bregman (“Foxcatcher”) for Likely Story; and Kevin Frakes (“John Wick”) for PalmStar Media.
The film has been slated for release on December 16, 2016, and is on my list of potential 2017 Oscar contenders, for individual performances and the overall film itself.
A presentation of New Line Cinema and Village Roadshow Pictures, “Collateral Beauty” will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, and in select territories by Village Roadshow Pictures.
Latimore stars in the 2016 Sundance Film Festival hit "Sleight," which was picked up be WWE Studios and Blumhouse Productions for a Summer 2016 release.
