John Stamos Faces Negative 'Fuller House' Reviews on 'Late Night With Seth Meyers'

The reviews of "Fuller House" were unkind, to say the least. But not as unkind as confronting John Stamos with them in person, which Seth Meyers did on "Late Night" last night. Stamos, who appears briefly in the Netflix revival, kept his game face on as Meyers pelted him with barbed quotes from reviews by the Hollywood Reporter’s Daniel Fienberg, the Washington Post’s Hank Stuever, the A.V. Club’s Joshua Alston and the New York Times’ Poniewozik, who calls it "a self-conscious, dated and maudlin reminder of the ceaseless march of time and your inevitable demise." (That is, believe it, not, the nicest of them.)

Stamos is, it has to be said, a good sport about it, even if the audience does audibly wince when he counters Stuever’s comparison of "Fuller House" to necrophilia with "Is that worse than when you get screwed by a dead magazine?" (So rude, dude.) As Stamos notes, he’s gotten a good shake from critics recently with "Grandfathered," so that might be why he’s in a particularly forgiving mood, but there’s still a special mixture of joy and pain in watching him wince.
