Keesha Sharp Replaces Golden Brooks in 'Lethal Weapon' Pilot + Johnathan Fernandez Joins Cast

Johnathan Fernandez and Keesha Sharp have both joined the cast of Fox’s hourlong pilot based on the “Lethal Weapon” film franchise, which Clayne Crawford and Damon Wayans Sr. are attached to star in, playing the roles originated by Mel Gibson and Danny Glover in the movies.

Fernandez will play a character named Scorsese, a pathologist with the LAPD who works with Riggs (Crawford) and Murtaugh (Wayans Sr.). Meanwhile, Sharp is actually replacing Golden Brooks who was previously cast in the pilot to play Murtaugh’s wife Trish – a role originated by Darlene Love in the film franchise.

According to Deadline, the switch from Brooks to Sharp was made after a table read of the pilot yesterday.

Fox’s TV series version of the movie franchise will center on Texas cop and former Navy SEAL, Martin Riggs, who moves to Los Angeles after losing his wife and baby. He is partnered with LAPD detective Murtaugh, who, having recently suffered a heart attack, must avoid stress.

The original 1987 film from Warner Bros. spawned three sequels.

Lin Pictures and Good Session Productions, in association with Warner Bros. Television, are producing the one-hour drama, with Exec producers Matt Miller, Dan Lin, Jennifer Gwartz and McG.

McG will direct.
