Anyone who watched “Veep” Season 4 undoubtedly remembers the finale’s astounding cliffhanger (if not the exact details that lead to it). In a truly unprecedented election night — even a fictional one — the electoral math added up to a tie, and President Meyer’s reelection efforts were put on hold yet again. Not only that, but she could end up being passed over by her own running mate, Tom James (Hugh Laurie).
So it’s fitting that the official poster for “Veep” Season 5 focuses on the unknown, both in that we don’t know who the next President will be and in what hope a newly-elected President Meyer (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) could actually offer.
In a play off the famous 2008 campaign poster designed by artist Shepard Fairey for now-President Barack Obama, the poster below pictures our candidate with an expression in direct relation to the word underneath it. A few of the actors have already taken to Twitter with their own interpretation of the poster, but take a look at the full image first.
“Veep” Season 5 premieres Sunday, April 24 at 10pm on HBO.
