Rashida Jones returns as the leader of a group of detectives who handles the “most serious cases” in the second season of “Angie Tribeca.” The latest teaser trailer shows the lone-wolf investigator return back to work after being in a coma.
The police comedy also stars Hayes MacArthur, Jere Burns, Deon Cole, Andrée Vermeulen and Jagger the German Shepherd. At a recent event for the show at the Paley Center in Los Angeles, showrunner Ira Ungerleider revealed that the second season will be all over the place, spoofing dark shows like Season 2 of “True Detective” and “Fargo.”
“Wouldn’t it be ‘of today’ to take the show in a serialized, complex [direction]? You know those shows where you’re watching and halfway through you go, ‘I don’t know what’s happening at all’?,” explained Ungerleider. “With ‘True Detective’ [Season 2], by the end, you’re like, ‘I don’t know what happened at all.’” Adding, “It’s ridiculously complicated. The actors are like, ‘I can’t even follow it, and I’m on the show.’”
In the upcoming episodes the LAPD team will investigate a band of drug-dealing lifeguards, the murder of a sushi chef and the tragic death of the “bad boy” in a boy band. The first season was filled with a slew of special guests and the second one is no different. Alfred Molina, James Franco, Heather Graham, Noah Wyle, Maya Rudolph, Eriq La Salle, Danny Pudi and many more familiar faces will set foot in the gripping, fan-favorite sitcom created by Steve and Nancy Carrell.
“Angie Tribeca” Season 2 debuts on Monday, June 6 on TBS.
