Ben Affleck (“Gone Girl”), Jesse Eisenberg (“The Social Network”) and Robin Wright (“House of Cards”) are just a handful of members who participate in the newest Viceland documentary about director David Fincher.
The latest Vice Guide to Film video takes a look at the filmmaker’s career, dissecting his thrillers that have cast a shadow over American cinema. From his 1989 “Express Yourself” Madonna video to his first feature “Alien 3,” to his latest project, the short showcases the strengths of the director over the years.
“David has the taste of an artist and the mind of an engineer. He’s exacting, he is efficient, he is impatient with ineptitude,” states Affleck. Adding, “I watch ‘Seven’ before anything I direct.”
Jeff Cronenweth, Fincher’s longtime cinematographer, also gives his input on his friend’s creative decisions and how the helmer interprets them on screen. Kiva Reardon, editor of Cléo, a Journal of Film and Feminism, and director Tamra Davis also participate.
