'Captain Fantastic' Trailer: Viggo Mortensen Isolates His Family For Love -- Watch

The first official trailer for the film “Captain Fantastic,” starring Viggo Mortensen, has hit the web. The Matt Ross-directed feature was first premiered at Sundance and will soon be headed to the Cannes Film Festival. 

The story follows a father who’s raised six children in the forests of the Pacific Northwest. When his wife dies, the family leaves the woods to attend the funeral and must learn how to assimilate into society. While they are well-versed in literature and political theory, they soon discover that they are outcasts who have much to learn about the modern world.

Things take an additional turn when his family fights for full custody of the children, threatening to take them away and put a stop to the out-of-the-norm life he has planned for them. 

The dramedy also stars Kathryn Hahn, Steve Zahn, George MacKay and Frank Langella also star. It is produced by Lynette Howell, Monica Levinson, Jamie Patricof and Shivani Rawat.

“Captain Fantastic” arrives in theaters on July 8.
