Now that the force is officially awake, it shows no signs of drifting off to sleep for the foreseeable future. Disney’s release schedule includes several more “Star Wars” movies over the next several years, including two more entries in the latest trilogy and a host of standalone projects, and a new cast of characters has already made its way into the hearts of fans across the galaxy. At the top of that list (well, maybe second, after BB-8) is Daisy Ridley as Rey, she of Force sensitivity and mysterious parentage.
In a brief video posted to her Instagram, Ridley can be seen sharpening her lightsaber skills ahead of next year’s “Episode VIII.” Under the tutelage of a stunt expert and using what looks to be a kendo stick as the makeshift lightsaber in question, the actress twirls around more gracefully than anyone since Star Wars Kid went viral a decade ago.
“Episode VIII” doesn’t have an official subtitle yet, but director Rian Johnson’s (“Brick,” “Looper”) installment does have a release date: December 15, 2017.
