‘Filthy Preppy Teen$’ Trailer: Paul Scheer’s Latest Series Parodies Teen Dramas

Whether you love or hate “Pretty Little Liars” and “Gossip Girl,” this series might be for you. Created by Paul Scheer, Jonathan Stern, and Curtis Gwinn, their latest collaboration “Filthy Preppy Teen$” is a new parody series that takes everything you adore – or loath – about those millennial, high school jock and prep series, and gives it an extra dramatic twist.

The show stars Dylan Gelula and Hannah Kasulka as popular, wealthy siblings who are presumed to be lost at sea. When they make their grand return back to their high school they realize that things have changed and must re-climb the social ladder. Entertainment Weekly premiered the first trailer, and you can watch it above.

The original idea of the series aired on Adult Swim in 2013 as a television special under the name “Filthy Sexy Teen$.” Plot lines, like a straight student pretending to be gay in order to gain popularity and another becoming a monster, were parts of the short. This time around, additional characters and actors have been added to spruce up the drama. Kasulka and Chris Parnell, who appeared in the movie, are the only members who still form part of the project.

“Filthy Preppy Teen$” is set to debut April 26, 2016 on the new teen and young adult aimed streaming service Fullscreen, launching that same day.
