John Krasinski To Star As Jack Ryan In Amazon Series From ‘Lost’ Showrunner

John Krasinski To Star As Jack Ryan In Amazon Series From ‘Lost’ Showrunner

John Krasinski has been cast to be the next Jack Ryan in the upcoming Amazon TV series based on the Tom Clancy CIA hero, reports Deadline.

“Lost” showrunner Carlton Cuse and writer Graham Roland are bringing the project to life with Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes, Skydance Media and Paramount TV producing. The show landed at Amazon with a series commitment and the intention to go straight-to-series. While there is no official green light for the show, the addition of “The Office” alum is a step forward to helping net a series order.

The new adaptation is not a direct one from the novels like the Jack Ryan movies were. It is said to be a contemporary take on the character in his prime as a CIA analyst/operative while using the books as source material.

Krasinski has been Cuse’s top choice for the lead role and this deal reunites the actor with Bay who directed him in “13 Hours.”

Four actors have previously taken on the role of the ex marine who goes into the CIA:  Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck and Chris Pine.
