Robert Downey Jr. Will Appear in 'Spider-Man: Homecoming'

Robert Downey Jr. will have a role in the upcoming Sony reboot, “Spider-Man: Homecoming” starring Tom Holland. 

Sources tell Variety that the size of his role in unknown at this time but after Sony and Marvel saw the great chemistry between the two actors decided that they had to work together.

Details of the upcoming Spidey feature are under wraps. Singer and actress Zendaya forms part of the ensemble in an unknown role, Marisa Tomei is Aunt May and it was recently reported that soap-star Laura Harrier and “Dope” actor Tony Revolori, who will portray Peter Parker’s enemy at school, were cast.

Michael Keaton was rumored to jump on board to play the villain. However, according to new reports the actor won’t be part of the cast so the search is still underway for the antagonist. 

Directed by Jon Watts, “Homecoming” will be written by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein and focus on a teenage Peter Parker while he is in high school. Production is expected to start this summer.

Fans first saw Holland make his debut as the web-slinging hero in the latest “Captain America: Civil War” trailer. The film opens on May 7.

“Spider-Man: Homecoming” is slated to hit theaters on July, 7, 2017.
