'Trollhunters': First Look at Guillermo del Toro's Netflix Animated Series

The ever busy Guillermo del Toro continues his fascination with fantastical worlds and creatures in “Trollhunters,” a new DreamWorks animated series that debuts later this year on Netflix. To help promote the series, the Mexican filmmaker will provide a first look as part of his Master Class at the Annecy animation fest on June 15th at 4:00 pm.

Originally conceived as an illustrated novel with Daniel Kraus (and later developed as a feature at both Disney and DreamWorks), “Trollhunters” concerns the residents of the fictional suburb of Arcadia, who discover a vast and mind-blowing world beneath their own, pitting humans against trolls.

Not to be confused with DreamWorks’ upcoming “Trolls” feature (November 4), a musical comedy based on the popular troll dolls with furry hair.

This year will also see the launch of “Voltron” as an anime-inspired series as part of the global expansion between DreamWorks Animation and Netflix, the new global home of DWA content outside of China. The agreement covers such existing series as “The Adventures of Puss in Boots,” “Dinotrux” and “Dragons: Race to the Edge,” as well as streaming rights to the DWA feature library.
