Variety has announced Discovery CEO David Zaslav as the keynote speaker for its annual Entertainment and Technology Summit, which takes place in New York on May 5. The announcement makes note of Zaslav’s success at the media company, whose reach has expanded to 3 billion viewers across the globe.
Also on the docket: Timbaland and his production partner Jared Gutstadt, YouTube personality Tyler Oakley and FiveThirtyEight founder Nate Silver, whose data-driven reportage has become a key component of three consecutive presidential elections. The event, which is part networking and part discussion, delves into trends in the digital and entertainment marketing spheres.
Variety has likewise extended invitations to CBS News anchor Josh Elliott, “Watch What Happens Live” executive producer Deidre Connolly and “Meet the Press” senior producer Shawna Thomas. In addition, speakers from the likes of Showtime, Disney/ABC, Google, Samsung, Facebook and Condé Nast will also be present.
Variety co-editor-in-chief Andrew Wallenstein said in a statement that “We are proud of the caliber of speakers we have gathered for this year’s Entertainment and Technology Summit and are excited at the wealth of knowledge and experience that will be shared with those in attendance.” Wallenstein will be moderating part of the daylong summit, which is to be held at the Intercontinental Barclay on May 5.
