The well-received action thriller from last year’s Cannes Film Festival is finally hitting American cinemas next week via A24. The highly-anticipated movie recently released a brutal red band trailer, and let’s just say it’s not rated R for its language or sex. This is the third film from writer-director Jeremy Saulnier, whose last film, “Blue Ruin,” also received rave reviews.
Saulnier’s film follows fictional punk rockers The Ain’t Rights, who just finished up a long and unsuccessful tour. However, it seems like their luck has turned as they book a gig in an isolated club in Oregon. Upon witnessing an act of violence they weren’t meant to see, the band members are now trapped backstage as they face off against the club’s neo-Nazi owner. In a 180 from his normal roles, Patrick Stewart stars as the aforementioned owner, sharing the screen with Anton Yelchin, Imogen Poots and Alia Shawkat.
“Green Room” will open in limited release on April 15, and then will expand nationwide on April 29.
