Jason Reitman & Diablo Cody Are Reuniting For 'Tully,' A New Comedy Starring Charlize Theron

Charlize Theron is on board to star in the indie comedy “Tully,” which reunites her with “Young Adult” director Jason Reitman and screenwriter Diablo Cody. 

The actress will take on the role of Marlo, a mother of three, including a newborn, who is gifted a night nanny by her brother. While she is hesitant at first to accept the additional help, Marlo comes to form a unique bond with Tully, the thoughtful and sometimes challenging young nanny.

The film is being produced by Bron’s managing director Aaron L. Gilbert, Reitman and Helen Estabrook through their Right of Way Productions, Cody and Mason Novick, and Theron, AJ Dix and Beth Kono through Denver & Delilah Productions. Production is set to start in the late summer in Vancouver. 

Bron Studios will co-produce and finance “Tully” with Sierra/Affinity making it available to buyers at Cannes.

Theron, Reitman and Cody last worked together on the 2011 comedy “Young Adult” which had a $12 million budget and grossed $22 million worldwide. 

Theron recently appeared in “The Huntsman: Winter’s War” and has joined the cast of “Fast 8” as the villain.
