'Outsiders' Exclusive Deleted Scene: Kyle Gallner Gets Perambulating in Appalachian Drama


The latest in off-the-grid television, “Outsiders” concerns three families who’ve been living on the fringes of Appalachian society for longer than most American families have even been in this country. As tends to happen, their way of life is threatened by pressure from without and tension from within. The 13-episode first season of the show comes out on DVD tomorrow, including a deleted scene that you can now watch above.

In it, Hasil (Kyle Gallner) is surreptitiously carving wood (as you do) until he’s interrupted by an older fellow who asks him when he plans on showing up to the mill. It ends, as all such scenes invariably must, with the older of the two telling Hasil to “get perambulating.” Whether young Hasil follows this edict is left to our imagination.

David Morse, Joe Anderson, Gillian Alexy, Ryan Hurst and Kyle Gallner star in the show, which in March was renewed for a second season. “Outsiders” returns to WGN America in January of next year.
