'Tulip Fever' Exclusive Poster: A Lush Look At Alicia Vikander's 17th Century Romantic Drama

Justin Chadwick’s “Tulip Fever” follows Jan Van Loos (Dane DeHaan), an artist commissioned by the rich Cornelis Sandvoort (Christoph Waltz) to paint the portrait of his young wife Sophia (Alicia Vikander). Set in 17th century Netherlands, the film focuses on the relationship between the passionate Jan and the unhappy Sophia, and their scheme to run away together by investing in the risky but lucrative tulip market to secure their future. Based on the novel by Deborah Moggach, whose novel “These Foolish Things” was adapted into “The Exotic Marigold Hotel,” “Tulip Fever” is a period drama about forbidden love and leaps of faith. Check out the exclusive poster for the film above.

Other cast members include Zach Galifianakis (“Baskets”), Judi Dench (“Chocolat”), Jack O’Connell (“Starred Up”), Holiday Grainger (“The Borgias”), Matthew Morrison (“Glee”), Cara Delevingne (“Paper Towns”), Tom Hollander (“In The Loop”), and more.

“Tulip Fever” will be released in theaters on July 15th.

what an overhyped actress.. Vikander always plays in historian period pieces like this, the boring ones.. I bet she will cry a lot too in this. Even when she’s not on period pieces, she still have that stiff-look that says stoned and overdramatic

@Kane. Huh?! No crying in Ex-Machina, Man from UNCLE. She won’t shed a tear in the new Bourne movie. Not over-hyped. She’s amazing…

In Bourne, just from the trailer you can see she’s miscast. A secret agent? She looks like a confused out of place 15 year old. And yes, she plays the same thing over and over again, you must be blind not to see it: crying destroyed suffering wife, girlfriend, naked all over, grumpy blank stares, corsets, running aimlessly on a beach like in TulipF or LBOceans. Hear about an AV film, well at least 3 constants are predictable: nudity, crying and corsets. She is a good actress but overhyped really…

shame on these comments. just another case of bashing a successful actress. Alicia showed more range in one year than some actors in their lifetime. Next time do your research before you accuse someone of having no range.

Nobody’s bashing anybody. They only state their opinions. And nobody’s accusing anybody – it’s an OPINION, do some research on what that means… There are so many actresses out there who deserve more long overdue merit, time will come and time will tell…

Oh, but I see the poster introducing her as Academy Award winner… But how about Christopher Waltz being a Two time Academy Award winner?! His great achievement must be really not worth mentioning, right? I guess AV being endorsed by Weinstein from day 2 of her career is no secret now…

commets like above are common actually. Whe news about her came up, I’ve seen comments boards anywhere on the internet agreed on one thing: she’s an ok actress, but overhyped and have been benefiting a lot from Weinstein and networks.. Vikander and her team could market the hell out of her all they want, but fact about her works are out there and people are not blind to have solid opinions. I thought TulipFever would be the last project with cry-loads troublesome wife that she took, but apparently she’s also on Cianfrance’ TLBO due to come out later this year, another dramatic suffering wife (and yes, cry cry cry, empty-staring eyes and old-time set piece)

"A secret agent?" Umm, Matt Damon is the secret agent. And none of your 3 criteria in Bourne or Lara Croft either.

"A secret agent?" Umm, Matt Damon is the secret agent. And none of your 3 criteria appear in the UNCLE or Bourne movies, or will appear in Lara Croft.

Lara Croft? I was dumbfounded at such a choice to play. Very contrasting to all the statements she made in interviews about how she only wants to take on deep/profound parts. Really, she is auditioning for everything and accepts everything she gets. Most of the roles she got is because other favoured actresses dropped out from scheduling conflicts or maybe because of the nudity involved – the shortest way to fame. It’s even on imdb trivia, no secret…

This movie supposed to sell good because of C.Waltz, cz Vikander doesn’t have the charisma as a lead actress. I’m not sure she could do well without crying or being miserable in roles. Ex-Machina is an exception, and even there she’s a robot. UNCLE was an embarrassing bomb on box office result, regardless its at-the-moment-hype. Lara Croft? mixed responses for her being cast, don’t get too excited though.. Halle Berry was a superstar when she got the role of Catwoman, then it was a freefall in her career history

Just because she has UNCLE and is about to appear in Bourne and Lara Croft, that doesn’t literally mean she has range. UNCLE is a flop, anyway.. not smth to be proud of, let alone to speak of range

"BooHoo" It’s a poster people, lighten up, and get a life…

@Kane she is NOT overhyped. I too think she is an amazing actress.
