The 13-episode comedy is inspired by founder and CEO of Nastygal Sophia Amoruso’s autobiography of the same name. The series is written and executive produced by Kay Cannon (“Pitch Perfect”) and will be directed by Christian Ditter.
The series will follow Sophia (Robertson), a rebellious, broke anarchist who refuses to grow up. While selling vintage clothes online she quickly becomes a businesswoman and builds herself a retail fashion empire. With this unlikely journey, she realizes the value and difficulty of being the boss of her own life.
The series comes from Charlize Theron’s Denver & Delilah production company. Theron and Laverne McKinnon will also executive produce along with Ditter, Amoruso and Cannon, who will serve as showrunner.
Robertson was last seen in “The Longest Ride,” “Tomorrowland” and also starred in the CW series “The Secret Circle” and “Life Unexpected.”
“Girlboss” will start filming this month.
