You’d think that making a list of everything wrong with “The Revenant” would be too herculean a task for any one entity, but a new YouTube video manages to do it in just under nine minutes. The popular “Everything Wrong With…” series from Cinema Sins continues this week with a look at Alejandro González Iñárritu’s latest Oscar winner, which netted our beloved Leo his long-awaited statuette but but left that bear out in the cold.
The film’s first sin is beginning with 48 seconds of logos, according to the video, which ends with a minute-long advertisement. Among its many others: characters’ inability to properly hold guns, using a Pawnee character as an unlikely deus ex machina and too closely resembling the work of Terrence Malick. (It does, however, remove one sin from the running tally on the strength of the extended action sequence at the beginning of the film, which was shot by frequent Terrence Malick collaborator Emmanuel Lubezki.)
The final count is 92 sins, for which the sentence is a bear attack. No word on whether DiCaprio has to take another one for the team on that front.
