Last night’s acclaimed episode of “Game of Thrones” featured a host of exciting moments: Jon Stark (Kit Harington) goes to battle with Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon), who was eventually fed to his own hounds by Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner); Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) burns the Master’s fleet with the help of Drogon; and Yara (Gemma Whelan) and Theon (Alfie Allen) swear loyalty to Daenerys to help her defeat the Seven Kingdoms. Next week is the sixth season finale, and it’s all but guaranteed to be a powerful conclusion to a season filled with resurrections and renewal. As Tyrion tells Daenerys near the end of the trailer, “You’re in the great game now, and the great game is terrifying.” Watch the trailer below.
The finale is titled “The Winds of Winter,” which is also the name of the upcoming installment of George R.R. Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire” series which the series is based. Though “Game of Thrones” has passed the novel’s storylines this season, Martin’s novel is still highly anticipated as fans openly wonder how particularly the series diverges from the novels.
“Game of Thrones” airs Sunday nights at 9pm Eastern only on HBO. Episodes are available to stream on HBO Go and HBO Now. The season finale airs on June 26th.
