In the summer of 2014, IndieWire’s Eric Kohn and Anne Thompson decided that they enjoyed arguing about movies enough to start recording their conversations on a weekly basis. So began Screen Talk, IndieWire’s weekly film discussion podcast, which this week reaches its 100th episode. (To commemorate the occasion, we asked a very special Screen Talk listener to provide this week’s introduction.) Looking back on all their discussions to date, the pair examine the ongoing inability for the studio system to support quality filmmaking — and find some counterexamples on the festival circuit (including the current Los Angeles Film Festival) and among this week’s new releases.
