Filming is currently underway for the film adaptation of Stephen King’s novel “The Dark Tower.” Last month fans had a chance to see Idris Elba filming in Cape Town as the rugged gunslinger Roland Deschain. Now, the actor has shared new film art, revealing a little bit more of his character.
“I am Roland, son of Steven, son of Henry, true descendant of Arthur. And I have not forgotten,” he wrote on Twitter along with an image that says “Remember the face of your father.”
For those that haven’t read the book, Idris is referring to King Arthur. While it’s noteworthy, it’s not much of a spoiler. Though, when a character has misbehaved, they are told to “Remember the face of your father,” which is like telling someone that they have forgotten where they came from. And from what we see, Idris has clearly not forgotten his roots.
“The Dark Tower” is directed by Nikolaj Arcel and stars Elba opposite Matthew McConaughey, who plays Walter Padick, also known as the Man in Black. Roland will roam an Old West-like landscape in search of the dark tower with hopes that reaching it will persevere his dying world.
“The Dark Tower” arrives in theaters on Feb. 17, 2017.
