Just because the “Twin Peaks” revival isn’t until next year doesn’t mean there are no shows about bizarre small towns to watch. “Wayward Pines” returned for its second season late last month, bringing with it a host of strange new goings on in the fictional locale of the title. (And you thought there was nothing in Idaho besides potatoes and “Napoleon Dynamite.”) Melissa Leo comes back on tonight’s episode, the third of the season, with the above clip showing her not-so-triumphant return.
In it, Leo’s Nurse Pam is referred to as the “Mother of Wayward Pines” by a police officer reintroducing her to the community. Not everyone looks pleased at the matriarch’s return, with Djimon Hounsou looking on stoically. The assembled residents all clap for her in the end, some more sincerely than others.
Based on a series of novels by Blake Crouch, “Wayward Pines” premiered last year on Fox. Both seasons consist of 10 episodes, with this latest round featuring Hounsou, Hope Davis, Nimrat Kaur and others in new, prominent roles.
