Starz’s comedy horror series “Ash vs. Evil Dead” follows hero Ash Williams (Bruce Campbell) as he assumes his former fighting persona to take on the new demonic plague facing the human race. The series premiered last year to generally positive reception, with critics praising the series’ off-the-wall tone and its boundless energy. Now, the series is set to return for a second season in October, and Starz has released a teaser that promises plenty of blood, guts, and dark comedy. Watch the teaser below.

The series was co-developed by filmmaker Sam Raimi, the man behind the “Evil Dead” franchise. The first film in the series “The Evil Dead” follows five college students vacationing in a remote cabin who discover an audiotape that releases demonic spirits into the world. The film was critically well received upon release, but it has since become a landmark horror film that has influenced countless directors. The film’s sequels “Evil Dead 2” and “Army of Darkness” have also become cult films in their own right, acclaimed for their blending of comedy and horror, and making Bruce Campbell a household name amongst horror aficionados and cinephiles alike.

Besides the “Evil Dead” films, Sam Raimi is probably best known for directing the original “Spider-Man” films, with Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst respectively starring as the web-slinging hero and his object of affection Mary Jane. He also directed the superhero action film “Darkman,” as well as the 2009 supernatural horror film “Drag Me To Hell.”

The 10-episode second season of “Ash vs. Evil Dead” will premiere in October on Starz.
